2. For test prep, we use real questions!

Most of the other test prep companies, especially the biggies, write their own tests and test material. The Prep School, on the other hand, uses only REAL sat questions and tests when prepping our students. Millions of dollars, thousands of hours, and hundreds of very smart people spend their lives writing these tests… and we take advantage of it… giving you the best possible preparation for the REAL test. By practicing with the real thing, Prep School students are far more prepared on test day.

3. Customized packages, hourly or in blocks, tailor-made for your child

At The Prep School, we also recognize that not every student is the same. Our SAT tutorials are often performed on an hourly basis, because not every student needs 20 hours of instruction, and some need more. You get what you need, as you need it.

4. Prep School tutors are certified.

They can prepare you both academically and mentally for tests (both standardized and academic) and help you with all of your academic needs, from organizational to study skills. Click HERE to learn more about our tutors.

5. One-on-One tutoring is far more beneficial than classroom environment.

We do conduct semi-private tutorials and classes, but we specialize in one-on-one tutoring. It is self-apparent to all of our clients that the one-on-one attention and personalization of a tutorial far exceeds the benefits of a boring classroom course taught to the middle. Perhaps your child needs more help, or less help, than a class is designed to give. Only a tutor can appreciate and implement that.

6. Parental involvement.

Through our newsletter, progress reports, and full array of college services – we hope to be parents’ one stop shop for college admissions questions. We have certified counselors on staff, and are ready to advise our clients. Click HERE for information for parents.

Tutoring & Courses

1. Homework?

We understand that most of our students have busy lives filled with school, extracurricular activities, and homework. We try to do our best not to assign too much homework.. however, we also recognize the need for practice if the results we historically achieve are to be had. Homework is to be expected, along with practice test assignments.

2. Who are the tutors?

Our tutors come from a variety of walks of life. Some of them are college students, others are teachers. Still others make tutoring their full-time occupation. In any event, they are all trained, certified, and a cut above what you will get from any other tutoring agency.

3. Where does private tutoring take place?

The main advantage of private tutoring is that it takes place in your home, on your schedule.

4. When should I start tutoring for the SAT?

This is a tough question, as it depends entirely on your particular situation. If you have the time to devote to studying properly, you can start as late as eight-10 weeks prior to the test. If you have a busy schedule which will pull time from your studying, it is more advisable to plan long-term and give yourself adequate time. There is no reason to prep for a test and not get the full advantage of our expertise and techniques. And time is needed to do that.

Tests

1. What is the difference between the SAT, SAT II, and the ACT?

These tests are all different, and we can prepare you for all of them! The SAT is the standard-bearer of standardized tests. Required by most colleges, it is an “aptitude” test which tests knowledge of various math, reading, and writing skills. Click HERE to find out about our test prep offerings and more about the tests!

4. How important are these test scores for getting into college?

The tests are important to many colleges, but they are not everything. Most colleges weigh the SAT and SAT IIs heavily, but there are many factors to consider, and no one will either get you in or keep you out.
